Very trick looking, Magnum... I might try something similar when I find some time. For now, it'll be the mopar electronic ignition under my Dart's hood.

Got the Standard Products LX-101 ignition module from Rockauto, an electronic distributor (reman?), and the harness with a blaster II coil from Summit ($#!+ shipping to Canada)... and a new 2 prong ballast resistor.

Are there any wiring diagrams out there to show me what goes where?

The Blaster II finally arrived from Summit racing, and it says "Made in China" on the bottom.

I believe it all is now, unfortunately. IIRC the one in my Duster is, but the one in my truck, which I installed 8 or so years ago was still made in the US. So far I've had no issues with the one in my Duster, but I'll be putting a spare in my roadside ignition kit just to be safe.

good idea! I'll do the same. Pretty soon I'll have a trunk full of "roadside spare parts"... all "made in China" :)

Finished the install after spending 2 hours looking for my soldering iron (had to add an extension to the blue ballast wire). I seem to spend 80% of my time looking for tools, 15% of my time doing the work, and 5% of the time scratching my head while looking like a confused ape.

The Dart fired right up, and all I have to do is set the timing... But, gotta wait for the Echlin mo-3000 rotor to arrive at the local napa, and will order up some new wires from Magnecor tomorrow.

Did you get the .8 ohm balast resister recommended with the Blaster II? MSD sells it seperat (of course)....got mine online from (of all places) Pep Boys. Sorry, don't have the part number handy. Also, keep an extra control module. I had mine crap out on the freeway a month or so ago and was lucky I had my old one sliding around in the trunk.

I have a 1.2 ohm resistor installed. Is that going to fry something?

Ordering parts from the States is PAINFUL.

At least my ECU is stamped "made in the USA" ;) I'll still get a spare one of these days.

I don't think it will fry anything, it just may not give full power to the coil. Them ECU's are getting expensive, eh? Why not take a trip down to Blaine to get all your stuff, or is it to far away? Your in BC, right?

Jester,just a heads up when you get the good rotor.With the "reman"dizzy check close to make sure the rotor pushs all the way down on shaft. I fought mine and not sure if it's the shaft or maybe the rotor has a little "extra" width on the tab. :? The cheaper rotors fit ok on mine so I suspect the 3000 rotor is maybe getting built a bit shoddy,at least the two I tried :roll:

Thanks, vanner. I had trouble putting the old cap and rotor on the reman distributor, but it eventually pushed down.

The old wires, cap and rotor seem to run fine, my question is: while waiting for the new wires and rotor to get here, is it ok to time the car and drive it for a day to take through emissions testing?

Actually, the wires seem loose on the plugs and dist. cap... and pop off while I turn the distributor to set timing. ZAP! :o

The spark didn't seem that strong to my right index finger.

Sure give it a shot :wink: If you're careful you can sqeeze down on the wire terminals with pliers for a tighter fit on the plugs.Clean inside the boots so they have better grip on the dizzy cap/plug ends,see what happens 8)

Me too, for the most part. Mine is HEI though so the biggest part for me will be the extra coil. I won't carry an extra distributor but will definitely have an extra cap and rotor, and with no ballast resistor, I don't need a spare of that :lol:
