Looks like a piece of angle iron will do the trick..with the right dimensions, that would be a snap to make. (hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge)

Got one myself that I made.Mid70s chilton man for Dodge vans gives details and measurments. The factory van plate bolts to 3 intake/ext studs and has a strap from plate down to threaded hole by pan. I've got a drawing with sizes around here somewhere would post but my photobucket wont work,it looks almost like Ron's.

I should add that my plate is van specific for shop in/out not factory for cars/pickups. It also needed to be moved ahead one stud worth for proper balance.I'll let Ron post sizes for his as most here are not working on vans like myself, you can see the lifting holes are off set abit from his.

I didn't like the idea of hooking chains directly to the bosses, so I made a bracket out of angle iron:

Post subject:  Shawn, sumpin you will want to try going IN is a leveler

Shawn,

Dunno if you are renting a lift or own one, but a device called a leveler is an accessory I wouldn't be without. It hooks to the hook on end of the hoist and lets you adjust angle of the engine slidng in merely by you turning a crank to shift the relative center of the device. It is so nice to get er up in the air nice and level, move over the hole, tilit the tranny end down with one hand turning the device, and ease the motor down while you are able to flatten the angle back out. I do it now in one smooth operation and land on the motor mounts too. Much easier than the old slide the hook over way. I bought a Harbor Freight lift and leveler once I figured out a 3 day rental cost the same as the tools.

Post subject:  Engine lifting bracket

My rebuilt slant is going back in my D100. I left the trans in the truck. Using the 2 tapped holed on the top of the head looks like what I'll be doing. I'm not planning on adding the manifold, dist, or water pump until she's in and bolted down. Does anyone have the dimentions of the factory lifting bracket holes on the lifting end? Is there anything else I need to watch out for? Thanks. Mike

I did, removed and installed with tranny. I used the same pickup points and a leveller.
