Eileen is stroked to 4.25. I wish I had go more but it was done before I had a chance to discuss it with the crank shop. Another story. I have turned 6300 rpm with no problems and even over reved to 6950 and didn't blowup. I will say I didn't pull back into the staging lanes again until I had a chance to sit down and take a breather. I personal think anything less than the 4.440 stroke is not cost effective. Stroking my crank ran me $850. I was quoted $400. Custom shops have a tendency to do what every they want so verbal quotes don't cut it. Get it in writing.
The welding process will cause the journal to be harder at the edge (the area that was welded). When the journal is ground back down to size, the stones will have a tendency to wear faster on that edge and the journal will be fatter on the outside. Make sure the shop measures in the center AND both outside edges. I had to take mine back to have it recut because the rods had no end play and I would has spun a bearing for sure.

wouldn't cross bolting the main bearing caps as they do on on the v8's help strengthen the bottom end, as well as a girdle? I know the slant is a deep girdle design - which would improve matters by design, but just wondering out loud...

And of course precise balancing of the complete rotating assembly.
