Well, one "fix all the underhood wiring problems at once" option would be to get a new wiring harness from Evans — their $105 price is a screamin' deal for workmanship that I've never heard or seen anything but praise for. Take a look at the main feed where it passes thru the bulkhead — it's an individual wire, thicker than the ones in the multi-wire connector, and it's held onto the bulkhead pass-thru with a small screw. For now, you can leave the test wire in place; the only downside is that your ammeter(s) won't work. |

So is it only one wire that goes through the bulkhead not two (one in one out)? I will look into that wireing harness, its going to the top of the list of things to get. |

Well, yeah, you do have two — and double check your wiring diagram to see where they pass thru the firewall, because I haven't looked at the '74 diagram, and it might be different than my '71. |

I bypassed the bulkhead and everything seems to be ok so far. The headlights don't flicker anymore, but the ammeter still "tweaks" a little, but not nearly as much as it did before. It might be due to the fact that my car has a little rough idle. |
