In Washington State, a vehicle built in 1972 doesn't need to go thru emission testings. If you lived 30 miles outside of the 1-5 corridor in the Pudget Sound area, you also wouldn't need to do testing. |

72Jim, why are you working so hard to override this board's very effective text-quote system? Adding your own quotation marks, disabling BBCode...why? All it's doing is making your posts a damnuisance to read. Please knock it off. |

Why are we haveing a flame fest in this thread? It doesn't really belong here, in the first place. This is about a 318 V-8. We have been tolerant about questions on other engines/cars, from members, but that is usually in the social corner. |

Well, I took the car out for the first real run today, it wasnt registered until yesturday, so I didnt have a chance to actually drive it until now. But Wow that 318 had more power than I expected, Must be the excessive amount of torque. had a lot of people compliment the car at stop lights. haha. and I also relized how bad the gas milage was, I burned 1/4 a tank of gas in about 50 minutes of city driving. (some play driving) So I definately wont be switching to the 4bbl, will more than likely just plug in the holes in the intake manifold. If anything, I would just upgrade to a better 2bbl, add headers and add a HEI ignition. Eventually maybe a 360 cam. So again, thanks for everyones help. |

If it is in good shape and tuned correctly, the Carter BBD is actually a pretty decent carb. If you want a bit better gas mileage, maybe try a Holley 2280. You can pick up either on eBay fairly cheaply. Anyway, good luck with it! |
