Yes I seen many v-8 A-body 81/4 rears with 11x2" brakes.I,d change the complete set-up to either 10x2 1/2 or 11x2 1/2,because the 11x2s are getting hard to find parts for.

Thanks! The 7 1/4 under the car now I *think* has 10 inch drums that felt good on the very short test drive. Maybe i will just swap all of the hardware over.

Don't worry, you can get 10" drum stuff from an F/M/J, 1/2 ton pickup, van, etc. I have most everything you need if you ever make it down here. Drums, shoes, backing plates, hardware. Yours for the asking.

I am running the 2.45 gears in my '65 with a 4 speed. No problems with it at all. I can cruise around town in 4th at 1000 rpms and smoothly accelerate away, 2000 is 60 mph and 3000 is 90mph.

I do have problem taking off on steep hills. A little more clutch slippage then I would like. I wouldn't recommend one with an automatic thou.

Thanks. We got the rear axle and will make a junkyard run to try and find some 2.94 or 3.2 rear gears. Now to figure out a way to get the pinion nut off the yoke in the junkyard...
