Galvanized is zinc, and tanks rust from the water vapor that gets in there.....
Yes, but for zincs to work the metal has to be submerged or bathed in the electrolyte that is causing the corrosion.

anyone have any idea which tank is best? i see what appears to be two different ones on ebay for about the same price, one is stamped out of zinc and the other is made by spectra, this is the one carried by rock auto, another seller says its made out of steel, which would be better? would it be good to get the steel one from rock auto and then put the por15 liner in it before use? thanks

was searching on here and realized someone else asked the same question not that long ago, my bad, im getting ready to order one from rock auto right now. hopefully it gets here by the 12th so i can take it to bubbas, planning on pulling the old stuff and looking into new lines tonight, maybe remounting the fuel pump etc. doing things right! also ordering a dorman fuse block so i can have everything on its own fuse instead of one, i just needed to add the fuel pump in an emergency situation and never righted it. i put in a new pickup a while back, just needs cleaned probably. i cant always afford to do things right, this was money i was hoping to put in the engine, but if i cant get gas to the engine or am getting bad gas and flakes to the engine its not going to do me any good to do a thing to the engine!

Metal fuel tanks are galvanized steel. I got mine from Rock Auto. Don't forget to order a new donut for the filler pipe! They are still available from Chrysler dealers.

The rubber donut seals the filler pipe to the tank. It's part number 3404182. There was someone selling them on Ebay for about twice what the dealer charges.

Pretty sure the general aftermarket doesn't have a donut so it's pretty much dealer only.

I'm sure you mean of your current choices however I just wanted to mention that another option if money is no concern is a custom tank made by Rock Valley. www.rockvalleyantiqueautoparts.com

While I have not had one nor do I know of anyone who has its interesting looking stuff the price not withstanding.
