The torque converter should have stayed in the transmission. Pulling the engine with the torque converter attached can bend the flex plate, score the front pump bushing, dump fluid all over the ground and make it more difficult to get the engine out of the engine compartment.

Replace the transmission front pump seal. Install the torque converter in the transmission. Make sure the torque converter goes all the way into the front pump drive. Then you are ready to begin reinstalling the engine.
