Wrong. You need a mechanic who has a better grasp of the basics of how things work.

Installing a manifold with a working heat control valve is probably your best way forward.

Darn, I cant get the photos to show up. I agree with you, SlantsixDan, I think the timing isnt right on the distributor, but wanted to make extra sure before I started going in a different direction. I wish I could get the two photos to appear on the website.

Get yourself a photobucket account. That way you can directly show the counter clockwise photo. I haven't been able to get flckr to work that way with the img html. It has to do with how it is being identified.

It would be easier if I could just upload the file from my computer to the website, but I guess a link to photobucket is the best I can do for the photos.

One possible source for parts for the heat riser valve, is collectorsautosupply.com. When searching their lists, just use one word 'heat'.

Be prepared, their prices may be high.
