Well, I got the carbs sync ed pretty close
running about 700 rpm and smooth
The offy linkage is weak I had to put springs on each carb and one on the twist rod link..(62 lancer) to even things out..I think that likage will have to go, sometime in the near future.

The hesitation is back now..very slight on take off but its there

before I dig into the jets changing stuff around I would like to know kind of what I am looking to accomplish...besides being to rich or lean on the plugs how will to rich or lean affect an engine..running wise?
Is tuning for max vac (timing) advisable with duel carbs
I also have the gm coil in there and have not gaped the plugs any bigger yet..I think I will do that next before I continue...

madmax/6....20 mpg...very nice..any dist recurve going on or just bone stock?

UPDATE...
I seem to be running rich I have installed 52 jets in the front and 50 in the back seemed increase the vacume in the front...52 is as big as I have right now..
Question: when setting duel single barrel carbs air fuel mixture, should I keep the turns in or out even between carbs or not worry about how far in or out each carb goes...ie: front carb air mix scew 1 1/2 out and back carb2 turns out..
Its running rich all six plugs...black soot on plugs...

where did you pick up your Offy? are you running Strombergs? or B&B's Carters. Maybe you said this in the earlier posts.....looking to do this on my 63.

offy was picked up on ebay..200 bucks if I remember right..came with two carbs but were to tall for my app. (62 lancer)
I am running 2 1920 holley's

running rich may mean ign. syst. is not working well I am going to check before I continue...I just put on the GM Hei with a duel spark dizzy....

"I just put on the GM Hei with a duel spark dizzy.... " What do you mean by duel spark. If it has two pickup coils, it probably does not have any advance built in.Please tell us if it has a vacuum dashpot on the distributor?

well dist. was good just needed a new cap (tune up).... back to it

QUESTION: how does one tell what size jets to use.

there must be a test of some sort..I can look at the plugs but if air fuel is off ..could get confused fairly easy it seems..

On jetting.Rich will be feel dull, black plugs and boggy.Lean will surge.Synch the dual carbs first then play with jetting. If you have two vacuum gauges, it would help you tune/synch.Hook each gauge to port on each carb for the vacuum pull off for choke.Keep the gauges the same at each adjustment to synchronize the carbs. You said the linkage was sloppy. If both carbs are not moving together, this would cause a hesitation. If the compression on the front 3 is different from the back 3,the engine will breath differently on each section of manifold.Good luck.

so is that the only way to test what JETS one should use...
driving it
and looking at the spark plugs?? Your kidding seems like should be a better way to test it.

My jets arrived today, havent recieved any other ideas on how to go about getting the right jets soooo...I gues i'll put them in one by one..(and two by two) and record what happens...I'll let you folks know...

Ant tests you folks want me to do???

*and sync them each time jets are changed

I love the smell of gas in the morning :D

If you have the $$s.You can get a wide band o2 sensor and air fuel meter.Search the board here. There are other people with dual carbs who may have been where you are at.

just can bring my self to buy o2 eqpt..so test by test it has been

I couldnt get the carbs to stop popping on hard exeleration ...
tried 50 - 60 jets and not to much change
all timing I could get both ways
syncing each time any changes were made
there is a rod on the 1920's that has three adjustment holes kind tucked under the choke..it was all the way forward so I moved one hole at a time...the third hole ....better ( not perfect)..a little messing with the air/ fuel scew..and no more popping..I will drive it later..but it will spin the tires in place no problem now...(2.76 rear end too)
any clue what I did??? I will look it up later if not...

You increased the accelerator pump shot so more gasoline is squirted in when you step on the accelerator. Carburetor operation and repair manuals (and some training movies) are posted here for free download.
