ive been into them alot. my grandfather put one behind the 235 in his 46 chev pickup. he used the s-10 style, but i also converted a camaro style to the s-10 tailshaft and mainshaft. not been into the mustang one but i would assume they are about the same. non wc is a ok for a daily driver and mild rebuild, never been into a wc. my grandfathers is a 3.something first and hes using a 2.68 read end out of a 4wd s-10 blazer

If you've been inside one you've seen them all. The big difference is the countershaft bearings. Any of them will last a long time behind a slant if you know how to shift.

Is there any real answer to the original question? Can the S-10 T5 tranny be adapted to the slant 6? I have heard the input shaft is too short on the S-10 tranny to bolt it up to the slant 6 bellhousing. I am needing good feedback here. Thanks in advance.

Having the input shaft too short is not a big deal. I just made up an extender and glued/pressed it on.

The hardest part of a 5 speed swap is the trans mount.

The trans mount and new cross member weren't too bad for me. What I still haven't figured out is a good way to route the speedo cable.

he didnt use a T5. he used a different tranny.

what were you looking for? There are people who did 5 speed swaps on here that DID use T5's Dart 270 comes to mind. also Greg55_99.
Clair Davis too, have bot seen on here in forever, but he's on another popular Mopar site.

I was hoping to get a detailed version on the installation of the T5 behind the Slant 6. I also tried the search but did not find that much detailed information. Is there anyone I can PM to get the information? Thanks

There aren't detailed instructions on how to do this. Nothing about a t-5 swap is premade or "kit"

To help you, let me ask a few questions...

1. Do you have a slant six bellhousing with a T-5 adapter plate?

2. Are you prepared to do "surgery" to your transmission tunnel, and by extension, hack up a possibly load bearing cross member?

3. Do you have the welding or other fabrication skills to make a new transmisson tunnel and a new cross member, including a transmission mount?

4. What year car do you have?

5. Are you planning on adapting the lever clutch, or going with a Hydraulic?

6. Are you a patient soul, willing to do stuff over a few times?

7. Do you have an enclosed, locked garage, with several floor jacks, jack stands, and some safety equipment?

I did mine two years ago, and for the most part, I am finished. There are a few loose ends that I am still working on. It isn't for the faint of heart.

That is the same trans I used in my T5 swap. the 79-93 or whatever the years are for the V8 mustang

No two 5 speed swaps are the same. Comprimises must be made no matter what route is taken.

If you dont want to hack the floor then the trans mount will be a chore.

If you chose a big clutch the linkage/TO bearing must be changed.

There is no exact, correct input shaft, nothing bolts up.

There is lots of hand work needs to be done.

That being said I put a 5 speed in my car in 2 days a decade ago....for $200.

well i am getting fed up playing email tag with this guy for the '95 T5, so it comes down to this, which T5 has the longest input shaft to make this swap "easier" ? 4, 6 or 8 cylinder ?
