Thanks all for the info you posted. Ok so leave the transmission mount rubber. I will look @ the cross member and mount to see the best way to achieve this movement. This way we will still have some flexibility in the system. Good point all Don!!

Moving the engine back will improve the weight distribution of the car which should inprove handling. Solid motor mounts alone will not. |

Our drive-trains have 3-point mounting. Using solid mounts on the engine is usually fine, but 3 solid mounts is usually asking for trouble. The body will flex more than the engine and transmission assembly. Something will eventually give. Some times it's the tail housing of the transmission. Keep at least one mount flexible to avoid breaking stuff. One theory is that if you have less than 51% rear weight then moving toward that ideal will improve handling. I would like to know the weight distribution of the '81 Z28 Camaro I raced on Halloween. It was tough to keep it pointed straight ahead on a wet track. My '66 Dart race car with a small block and A833 was 57% front weight with me in the car. Total weight was 3258 lbs and it was much better in the rain. |
