The pistons are Down .0025" to .008" Most are .005"

Greg
Why the .055" spread in deck heights? Crank indexed poorly?

Check your math! .0055"

Sorry, dropped a zero, typo not a math problem. Still over 5 thousandths isn't cool. It's probably the crank.

Or a non parallel top deck to crank main line... if you see a consistent increase / decrease, end to end.

Could be rods too.

Mine are .010 down.My block was decked a little more,I also took .020 off the pistons to get them there.I also sanded a couple to get them closer.I am actually .009 to .011 down.
I dremeled my pistons today for the valve clearence, will do final kiss tommorrow and check again with least bent valve. One allmost survived.Exhaust are a little to close for my likeing also.Guzzi Mark

Well No they are not consistent from front to rear.

They seem to be random.

I dont have the #'s for each one with me now - They are on a notecard at home.

I will have to post them.

If K1 did that to their customers I'd be unhappy and surprised. The deck heights of the 170 I tore down were also way off. I'm having the crank stroke and rod lengths checked. The pistons are within 1/2 a thousandth of one another.

If you recall, K1 did have a problem with the tang being machined on the wrong side of the rod and cap. Never say never. They admitted the mistake and fixed it...no big deal. Probably not the pistons either. I don't have them in my engine yet to check the height but the diameter of all 6 measured within .0003". Four are within .0002" of each other.

When it comes time to cut valve reliefs in my pistons I'm going to use a transfer punch through the valve guides to mark the valve centers. Since the reliefs will be cut in stock replacement type forgings they will be as shallow as is practical.

I know these are very old posts but was wondering if Wiseco ever changed the valve notches on the new pistons? We will have 2 motors going together shortly and was just wondering.
