I've been running dual dual exit on the passenger side of my truck, in front of the rear wheel, for 2 years now with no ill effects on the tires at all...ground clearance obviously not an issue with a truck. The exhaust piping gets hot but with air movement there is no way the air coming out of the exhaust is hot enough to do any damage to your tires. Same goes for fume issue, if you're moving there isn't any way those fumes are getting into your vehicle...at idle it's a different story obviously. |

Somewhat true but if say for example there were holes in he floorboards behind the exhaust, you can bet there will be exhaust coming in. I'm not saying yours does, but i know mine does Every vehicle I have owned with a pipe infront of the tire hasn't damaged it, I just have to clean it a lot, which probably doesn't hurt anyways... ~THOR~ |

Precisely why I am adding the tail pipe as I stated, I don't want to deal with any under car side exit at the tire issues, plus I don't feel like washing the car that much... heheQuote: I have a side exit exhaust on the duster and its just a single 2.25" out to a wannabe-flowmaster muffler which then turns 90 degrees and winds up just infront of the rear tire.
Occasionally I have seen exhaust pipes exit just ahead of one or both rear tires. Looks cool, and sounds cool. However this is something that makes no sense to me at all.First there is the fume hazard having exhaust exit under the passenger compartment. Second the ground clearance situation. I wonder how many of these set-ups have met their Waterloo after getting caught on an obstruction bending under the tire and being ripped off… Thirdly, and most important is the increased heat that the tire has to contend with that is dumped at its leading edge. That can’t help durability much… ~THOR~ |
