It is a SMP - Standard Motor Products brand part number. The X in the part number I believe is the BlueStreak line of their products, the premium parts. Summit, Rockauto... as for whats near you, I'm not certain. Each locale is different. I know kragen/orilleys and Autozone doesn't, but a local chain here Monument's does.

I had trouble w my cap not fitting where the wires come out for the pickup, I had to make a notch w a file so it would sit flush. But if you are saying size is off maybe you need to take some calipers and measure your dist. That way when you go to get another one you have actual measurements.

I have a bout 2-3 spare elec. dist. bodies if you want one, just pay me shipping.

I'm not sure what is going on over at SMP, but recently I ordered a CH-410X from 3 different source (two local stores and Rock Auto...and they sent me a CH410...not the 410X)...it works OK, but it almost seems like one of the "other" brand with a "standard" stamp on it...

Standard is "cheaping" out. The Good stuff is being phased out. I have had an ongoing discussion with them, about their poor quality.

What are the numbers on the metal tag? That might be helpful to ID the distributer as to what year etc.

Richard
Thanks for the reply,
The numbers on the tag are ( on top: 49 8 ) and ( on bottom: 3874876 )

I hope this helps.
Thanks

That's an OEM super six distributor if it is all original, that's an excellent core to work with for stock or heavily modified slant, performance or mileage.
