If you've been 14.0's on muscle a 100 shot will put you solidly into the 12's, prolly a 12:60 or so.

With a stick make sure you have an RPM activated shut off on the spray in case you miss a shift.

Slantzilla, I actually ran 14.0 with a 50hp shot of nitrous. Ran 14.8 engine only. I'm hoping my changes for this year will get me to mid 14s engine only. Basically I'm hoping to pick up just over 1.5 seconds in the 1/4 to get into high 12s. Do you think 100 will do that or will I "need" more? I don't have an rpm window switch, but I do have a rev limiter set at 6200rpms. I was thinking that would save the engine if I missed a shift? Would that be ok instead of the rpm window switch? You ran 12.00 if I remember right, what was your car weight at that time, and how much spray did it take? I'm just curious what it's gonna take to get mine into the consistent high 12s. Thanks

a rpm window switch deactivates the nitrous before the rev limiter.if the nitrous is on when the rev limiter is reached bad things happen

I did not realize hitting the rev limiter on nitrous was a bad thing. What does it do?

Kev, I do have a micro switch on the pedal...... problem is when you shift without letting off of the gas pedal. Last year my car wasn't in the greatest shape so I would let off between shifts. Now that the transmission is in good shape again I will be shifting without letting off the gas pedal again. but it sounds like to do that I will need an rpm window switch.

You will hear a very loud "BOOM" and people will think you lost an engine.

Yes, you do.

Or you could put an automatic in it and not worry.

Thanks Dennis, I will order one right away. Would I be right thinking that without a rpm switch, the nitrous/fuel loads up when it cuts spark, and then when it fires again you get the "BOOM" ??

I'm glad you told me that BEFORE I had to learn it the hard way. Thanks!

No problem. :D

Mine picked up almost 2 seconds on a 100 shot, and 2.5 on a 150.

3250# depending on what I had for lunch.

I really hope I can pick up about 2 seconds with the spray....... Without hurting the engine. Dennis I didn't realize your car was not lightened at all 12.0 is very impressive. You definitely set the benchmark for us heavy weight street cars.

I took all the weight out of the car that I could get without major expense or surgery. Then I put me back in it.

I just installed an EFI kit from Professional Products (Powerjection III). I got to put a little time on it so far, and throttle response is good overall. It is self adjusting so I am hoping it will get better on its own. I need to change my throttle linkage because It wont pull to wide open throttle entirely. The car pulls strong to about 4500, but after that it loses power. I am hoping it is because the throttle isn't opening entirely. I will update and put some pictures up after I get everything installed properly. What is the target A/F ratio for the street and drag racing?

Shoot for 12-12.5:1 AFR at WOT, and around 14.5-15.5 for part throttle cruise.

Post subject:  Update

Its been a while since i've posted any updates about the Dart so here it goes.

I've been doing some tuning on the dart getting it to run better and better.
I managed to get over 22mpg on the way back from the Elk Creek Virginia race with 4:30 gears (4 speed O.D). I was really happy about that.

Car is Running 14.7's in the 1/4 on street tires without nitrous. I need to put a good set of slicks on there and see what happens. I have been having major issues trying to get my nitrous working properly so I have not been able to try it this season. Hopefully I will get the nitrous straightened out soon.

I thought I'd post a pic of my most recent racing modification. I built a trailer hitch setup for the dart, and will be towing with the Dart down to Clay City next week. I will be using it to haul a honda 250r ATV mostly, so it won't be hauling more than about 1500 lbs total.

I used it tonight, seems to tow nicely and stop it good also. I do have larger brakes on the back and disc brakes up front. Hopefully it will tow the 8 hour trip with no problems.
