I don't see a 225 making 300 lb-ft of torque without a very large stroker crank or a supercharger. Maybe if you made a billet stroker crank to reach 280 to 300 cubic inches? Not that it sounds like a good idea to have that much stroke - I think at least one of your goals needs adjustment.

Hmm thanks I'm now thinking based on what I've read that 350NM of torque is a better goal that I should try to achieve.

Pick one, and stick with it department:

Brussel starts out in Nm which is fine and dandy, as if ft lbs were something other than torque:
I'd really like to get as close to 400NM of torque. (not the pounds per foot)
Josh makes the units conversion for us simple Americans:
The stock, gross rated 1bbl 225 was 145hp and 215 ft/lbs torque. 295 ft/lbs or 400 Newton/meters is a 37% increase. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it may be tough going.
Ted is yakking in English units:
Example: Could you say that adding a Clifford long runner intake will add 25 foot lbs of torque? verses and Aussie longer runner manifold might add 35 foot pounds or what ever the number might be?
Mat is in ft lbs:
I don't see a 225 making 300 lb-ft of torque without a very large stroker crank or a supercharger.
Brussel follows up in “Mn of torqueâ€￾:
Hmm thanks I'm now thinking based on what I've read that 350NM of torque
Hey guys, can we keep the same units from post to post. My pre 1975 soft metric brain is tired of converting from Newton Meters to Foot Pounds… and back, as the discussion plods along... LOL

You should consider a stroker crankshaft. If you want a major improvement in mid range torque I think a turbo should be considered. A turbo is not that common on these motors. I don't see too many turbos built on this forum.

If there was a common slant six turbo recipe with proven reliability and good results I might do that. There are limits on torque for a street driven slant six because of its size. If you want more torque at reasonable costs, that's what
a 318 or 360 is for.
