I really feel that the 650 blow though is about 50% too large for a 225. The poor velocity is going to make it a real (*^%(&%! to tune. I know Shaker has his 600 Holley working well, but I think smaller would be better for a driver. I'd get my turbo build in gear, but the Bonneville project trumps all the other play cars for time and money. I have a 390 Holley DP for my turbo build.

Lets not forget that the Mighty Demon flows more air than a conventional Holley DP with the same rating. A quick search netted 753 cfm from your 650. Kev, you will need to start out with your secondaries disconnected until you work your other bugs out. I ran 11.40's without my secondaries. Is your Demon new? If not, what did it come off of. I run a 575 BT also on my pops 318 turbo Dart and it runs 10.50's. In carbs, bigger is not always better.

Is your 390 and DP?

It's new, I went with the 650cfm beacuase I had a friend selling it so I got a really good price on it plus i figured you guys were running similar size carbs so I figured I can make it work. It would be easier to start off running it with only the primary side?
Would there really be poor velocity in this carb considering the turbo is jamming air into the motor?

The turbo doesn't make the air faster, it makes the air more dense.

I'm sure you'll get it to work. What diameter intercooler piping do you have? Headers look good so far! Later

Huh so it only makes the charge more dense, ya i guess there would be no way for the turbo to speed the exhaust up since its being propelled by the exhaust/heat load.
intercooler piping is 2 1/2 inch, then closer to the carb BOV is on a 6 inch section of 3 inch that meets with the 4inch carb hat. When i ordered the carb hat i thought it said 3 inch but apparently its a giant 4inch inlet. Sound ok?

I don't have an I/C because I havn't purchased one yet.I'm sure it will make an improvement.I was just saying I ran 14s with a full street car mild engine mild boost and some big tuning problems.Your combo, properly tuned will surpass it,but be prepared for quite a bit of trial and error

It oughta pick of some pep i would think with the I/C, hopefully i can get this bad boy tuned up real nice I built it beacause i'm tired of being a quick car that can hang with v8 stangs i want a ground pounder :)

I almost dropped a tear today when i finally forked the money over for my PTE6262 its just about time to take my motor out and stick the turbo motor in and start hooking stuff up and fixing problems
OH YAH!

Had a bit of a scare today was working on a 10ton package unit on the roof of party city today when i was switching the fuses (Disconnect was off) I took a nice buzz using my ratchet wrench. I felt my hand grib about 3 times before i dropped the wrench and went holy $#!+ did you turn the disconnect off to my dad. Apparently the cap for one of the fan motor had faulty wiring and the cap had a nice charge held in it so ya interesting day of work today.

Anyway finally got my hunk of copper head gasket I plan on assemblying the motor tommorow night to check valve to piston clearance then button it up, are these copper head gaskets reusable?

You need to use some type of sealant with the copper HG. I used Hylomar non setting per Shakers advice. Hasn't leaked yet.

A good shock once in a while will keep your heart in check!! Later

Make sure you coat the gasket with "Hylomar" sealant.

Thanks guys in the process of locating myself a can of hylomar.
I've been kicking around whether or not to get a windage tray and crank scrapper, anyone running one is it worth it?
If so where do i get one?
Intercooler mounted/short block is together

I run Kevin Johnson's Crank Scrapper in my engines. I think its crankscrapper.com
Mike jefferies does a nice windage tray.

Crank scrapers, and windage trays do work. The higher the RPM, the more effective they are.
BUT: in "my opinion" they do not offer enough bang for the buck, in most street type rpm range motors.
Back in the "old days" when you could get the MP windage tray for about $40.00 with the mounting hardware, I would definatly use one.
All that said, I have several windage trays in and going into my motors, and a couple of crank scrapers, that I will be using. Because I have them, and got them for a really good price.

I had a similar problem on a turbo Chevy 6 and cured the problem with more ignition timing and a pressure retard indexed to the intake. MUCH better economy, too.
