Mark, how about I split the plenum on my huricane and loan it to ya for some testing? May require a larger carb then an open plenum intake and some fiddlin' with linkage. Just a thought - keep the pics coming. Thanks, Wayne. |

Port the Hurricane intake but you will have to cut it in order to port it all the way. |

Quote: We have tried all sorts of epoxied in things in Offys and Cliffords. The problem in my mind is NONE of this has been Dynoed. Just a "track" results of switching a manifold and Not retuning the carb or timing dont yield true results.
Mike Jeffrey and Doug Dutra (as well as many others) have done many, many tests with intakes and did all the required rejetting, etc. I know Mike and Blaine spent countless hours and dollars trying to find every last .1 HP they could get trying to run S/Pro at an altitude track with an N/A Slant.A flow bench will never find the off-idle stumble that plagues a long runner style intake, and a dyno won't find a high speed lean/rich condition from using a hood scoop. Bottom line is that while flow benches and dynos make numbers that are good for bragging rights, the ET slip will trump a dyno every time. Not baggin' ya Frank, just don't want to see good intentions get in the way of reality. |

Great stuff, Mark. I also would love to see this car run! I can say that my 2bbl Hurricane, to my surprise, has ZERO off idle stumble with the 500 Holley and a big cam (260 @ 0.050"). I don't recollect having a carb/intake combo that did this well off idle, and it behaves well even when cold and no choke. My motor runs out around 5400, but that is likely not the intake. Still workin' on probing that issue... Cheers, Lou |
