It may work OK,but the acumulator softens part throttle shifts, this may not work right ,and you probly have a double wrap rear band in the '83 case, the '68 VB will be "tuned" for a single wrap one.Might not be enough difference to cause problems, but a '68-'73 S/6 case would be ideal.I'm putting '68 V-8 parts in a '71 S/6 case now,I,ll try to post pics soon.

Wel, even if the 83 case originally had a double wrap band, it will have whatever is currently attached to the 68 valvebody. The only modifications I am making to the internal parts are adding the part-throttle kickdown and swapping the gearset. Otherwise, the V-8 guts will be used in their entirety in the 83 case with the 83 governor and gears.

I am working with what I have, not what would be the most optimal configuration or combination. Please post pics and comments.

The double wrap band, is a function of the case. You must use a double wrap band in a double wrap case, and a single wrap band in a single wrap case.
I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the double wrap band was only the V-8 "999" trans designation, for the 360 engine.

Thanks Charlie. I'll keep an eye out for that. Rear band stays with case.
