other than ending up with a less shiny car, is there a particular reason to not use satin or flat?
More prominent paint lines. It will look awful. Plus satin will be overly shiny, so much so that it will show every little imperfection.

oh, i guess that makes sense, i was thinking about using this method to do the hood black, hwy 58 in pleasant hill, OR, is lined up with the sun just right to have awfully bright hood glare. i guess i could rattle can it black, technically speaking, it's the only part of the car with large areas of actual paint, but that makes it the shiniest as well.

If all I did was listen to "professionals" I would never get anything done. I hope your car keeps making you happy for a long time.

I love those grills when you black out the plastic parts. Here's my old '75 Duster:

Well the paint job isn't perfect by any means. It looks as good as a good Maaco paint job. There's a few runs on some spots...I guess if I cared enough, I could sand them out and make it look A-1 primo, but I don't.

I definitely have to re-do the hood. There's dog fur embedded all over the hood, plus you can see the roller marks. I'm only 5'7'' so it was quite challenging to paint that huge hood!

I figure it looks decent when a Police Officer pulls me over and compliments me on how nice the car looks. Apparently it's obstruction of the driver's view to have fuzzy dice. All I know is if I still had my Jaguar, I'd be getting tickets galore even if I drove slow. Nothing beats driving an antique.

Nice job-I've seen a lot of You Tube downloads using the same method and Rustoleum- I went the rattle can route.
