Nice ride. I have a 67' Dart 270 4 door also. I got it a few years ago and have replaced the gas tank, fuel lines, installed disc brakes with 14" tires. I just got it back from the body shop with it's cheap paint job. I will post some pics. Good luck with it. |

Took the Dart out last night after cleaning up the radiator, putting a new cap on it, siphoning out the old sorry gas, and limbering up the carburetor and manifold choke valve that was stuck. Unfortunately it must have been stuck for a long time - there's a big crack in the manifold probably because of that valve being stuck. Anyway, after we put a new battery in it, it fired up first crank! Ran smooth (blew out a BUNCH of trash out of the tailpipe that the mice had stored in it), but when we backed it out of the garage there was fluid on the floor - where the fuel pump diaphragm had blown. We went and bought a fuel pump, took a while to put the new one on (because it is so close to the distributor), and fired it back up, and it ran great. Against our better judgment on 20 year old tires and brakes that have been sitting a while, we took off on a joyride. We ran it probably 10 miles or so, and it didn't seem to run hot or rough at all. We came home, parked it, and there is NO leak anywhere from anything. Now on to restore it - it doesn't look like the gas gauge is working, so we probably better drop the gas tank. We'll rework the brakes and carburetor next, but we're pretty happy with it so far. I'll post a picture tomorrow when I get a chance with the wheel covers on it. |

Here's pictures of the fun trip Saturday night in the Dart after replacing the battery and the fuel pump. My Daddy is eagerly awaiting his chauffeur driver in the front seat: |

That is for sure. It's fun just messing with it because I grew up with Chryslers in our family for years, and I remember Aunt Mary driving this car since I was a little kid.

She cleaned up real nice! OK now, park that thing until the brakes are inspected, and serviced. You wouldn’t want to crack up that cream puff now would yeah? |

Exactly what I told Daddy yesterday after church - it's time for surgery now!

Parked it last night and got it up on jack stands. Got all but the front passenger drum off - it was stuck, so I'll need to back off the brakes some to get it off, looks like. Washed all 4 wheels and the spare wheel, too (the spare had a 6.50 x 13 Hercules bias ply tire on it - looks like that might have been one of the original tires on it, and I haven't thought anything about Hercules tires in 30 years). Now I hope to get the wheels painted to be ready for installing new tires as soon as we can find some worth buying. I'm thinking of customizing the wheel paint just a little bit - since the interior has really sharp blues in it I'm probably going to paint the edge of the wheels a navy blue (that's all anybody will see when the covers are on it). Should look nice when we get the new tires on it. |

Now I have new brake shoes and hardware on all but 1 wheel (passenger back) and hope to have that done by the weekend. Next will be the hoses and master cylinder, so I'm praying for patience as we go - I want to have it up and going soon! |

Thanks to 64 Convert we now have new(er) tires and wheels on the Dart, and it won't be long now before we can replace the manifold, finish the brake job and be rolling! I've got a new Bluestreak distributor cap, Echlin rotor, points, condenser, ballast resistor, voltage regulator and all kinds of good stuff on it now, so we're looking forward to being able to drive it soon. Here it is with the new wheels and tires: |

We now have the exhaust manifold replaced, a new 2-1/4" exhaust system on, brakes all around, and it's looking good! Here are the newest pictures as of 6/28/11, and it's running pretty good. I need to check the timing on it again and do some other little maintenance to it (as always on any car!), but it's fun driving it around and getting looks and comments. One guy at AutoZone the other night laughed at how small the windshield wipers are for it, but he was impressed with the car once he looked at it! Just turned over 86,700 miles after driving it a little this week. Sorry the pictures are no better than they are, but I only had my camera on my phone with me. |

Just wanted to post and say the Dart is doing great and catching some looks everywhere we go! This is a great car and a lot of fun to drive. I may end up selling it if anyone's interested - always have to have some projects going on! Anyway, thanks to all of you guys for your help in getting it rolling. It won an award in a car show a month or so ago, so now on to some more! |
