is it a good idea to do with autolite 65's as well? to pull the washers off of them?
No, the best idea with Autolite's Chinese junk is to throw them in the trash or not buy them in the first place, and get NGKs instead.

Answer is yes, you remove the ring washer from any spark plug of any brand you install in any '63-'74 slant-6 head. You leave the ring washer on any spark plug of any brand you install in any '60-'62 slant-6 head. Follow the links…follow the links…follow the links. It's really easy, all you have to do is click on the red text and you will be taken immediately to the answer to the question you asked and I, for some strange reason, answered instead of just saying "RTFlink".
lol thanks for the sugar coat dan! hey while im asking do you have a part number for a slightly colder plug for a heavily modded slant?

An NGK #6. In NGK's lineup, higher number = colder plug. There is no ZFR6N, but you can get ZFR6FIX-11, a high-endy premium ultralong-life plug with a wide gap (think it's factory gapped to 0.045"? Check it). Or you can get a plain ol' GR6, less fancy, less money.

Look it up on the NGK web site.

I haven't got a box sitting around to check.

Wouldn't change the fact that your question has been answered dozens upon dozens of time. Here's another: Yes.
