I am looking for a plutonium head myself.

Make it out of kryptonite... it's a stronger material and will make the "Superman" bracket racer in the other lane, weak and un-able to cut a good light...

I seriously doubt anyone here is serious.

However, if a few folks are serious enough to have $5-10k to do this, we should talk about it. It is best to have a "ringleader" who wants to invest a substantial amt of money, and they would coordinate efforts.

Yes, this topic has been thrashed to death, but I would still like to see it happen someday. The biggest problem is that we have tried and failed 4-5 times already, so getting people on board with this effort will be even harder.

Just for hypothesis sake, if a bunch of us got together and put forth the cash to get a project like this off the ground, what do we base the head off of? It doesn't make sense to me to cast from a ported and polished Iron head, no matter how well it was done and by whichever expert. However, if we took all viable elements from modern cylinder head design and put it toward the Slant Six, that'd be pretty cool. The Chevy LS motors have the best stock cylinder heads around for a pushrod engine, mimicking the combustion chamber (rotated 90 degrees) and then utilizing the valvetrain would be cost effective.

Who will do the design work and how will they please a good number of people?

FYI, a well ported Slant head (about 200 CFM intake) makes as much or more CFM per cubic inch than most new Edelbrock alum heads.

There ARE aluminum heads.....7 that I know of, and I dont own any of themLOL. I want one.
See, there are alot of folks that want one, but if you make it too specialised, you cut alot of prospective buyers out.If I were to have any imput, it would be to base the head off a known highflowing head.Make it able to be used w/ Mopar bolt on parts....That way you can run the roller rockers you already have, and intake and headers.Just my 2 cents.
I want to buy a head too.....there is just so many wants/needs, it wouldnt be a please everyone sort of deal.

One major issue I'd like to address for the design of the cylinder head is: do people want a cross-flow head or a port "replica" of the standard casting? with a cross-flow head I see two problems, 1. custom headers would have to be designed, and 2. packaging within the confines of a A-body.

Then again, this is all within the confines of hypothesis...

Yup, crack open another cold one, the “Beer Gogglesâ€￾ are starting to bring things into focus… Ahhh… Cross flow, hemi, twin plugs with coil packs, direct injection, shaker hood... Naw; just kidding about the hood, what you think I’m drunk or something?

Hay wait a minute, can’t one grab a PU truck Hemi out of ye old junk yard for cheep? One of those things would make an A Body go like stink, and save that R&D dough-ray-me for more cold ones? Call it a Siamesed /4 or something.

Just say’in, that’s all.

We have a three day weekend, if your buying Wayne, I'm up for it!

Plutonium is too heavy. It would weigh as much as the short block.
Magnesium. That way we don't need those pesky LED's under the body to look cool!

If somebody was to build an Aluminum head, the high percentage would want it to bolt up like stock.
I would be interested in Cross flow. But then it wouldn't be for use in a "Car" anyway.
In an A-body, a cross flow would be a pain in the butt. Think about where a lot of things like oil pumps, spark plugs, distributors, and alternators are mounted.
With a custom valve cover, a different plug placement, dry sump, and crank trigger; no problem. We've changed a lot of stuff there.

I'd still be interested. Shoot me a photo of the first casting. :D

Are we doomed to have this same exact discussion again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again until the end of time?
