you just know it's gonna cock a front leg as it takes off from the line, flow restrictions or not!

i hope so. just an update, i dropped the blower off at a place called superchargerusa in la habra, ca this weekend. the guy there was real nice and took the time to pull it apart and show me what should be replace and what didnt need to be and why. he is also going to polish it up. i should have it back in a few weeks and then i can finally button this thing up and fire it up.

don`t worry, tapper the blower opening into the intake opening and you will have no problem with the blower charge. just take a look at the top fuel manifold, it`s tapered towards the front were most of the pressure pulse is directed and they have 14-71`s squeezing all that charge into a 1/4 of the blower size opening. nice setup you will be pleased. 8)

looks and sounds really good. what timing and psi are you setup for?

Author:  slantscamp [ Mon Jan 02, 2012 12:29 pm ]

thanks. according to the formula on holley's site. this pulley ratio based on engine size and blower size should give me around 4 pounds of boost. not much yet. as for timing, i will need to pick your brains and do some searching on this site. when i started it up yesterday, i didnt even mess with the timing. all i did was plug off the vacuum advance. any tips are greatly appreciated.

i was given good advice here on this site when i first started, with a locked dist mech adv and only vac adv. set base timing at 15degs, no vac hose, then use adj screw in vac pod to get total timing to 25degs. you have to hook the vac hose to the intake not the carb, so when boost comes on the psi will push you back to base timing. i started with this and now have 20degs base at 12psi boost but i have also got water injection+supreme gas.when i ran the smaller 4-53 blower, i ran faster with 3psi than i did with 5psi. you will have alot of good times as you get the tuneup right and feel the car pushing back in your seat

just finished swapping the engiblder valve head 1.70int/1.44ex with my bigger valve head 1.80int/1.60ex the engiblder head ran a best of 11.48et@115mph 1.54 60ft with 12psi, the bigger valve head ran 11.15@120mph 1.47 60ft with 12psi, i had to use a smaller pulley to boost psi when it drop to 10psi after installing the bigger valve head.i am going to build another head with engiblder valve 1.81" bb dodge shorten and reduced to 1.80" for int and 1.70" reduce to 1.60" for ex. with the swirl polish and back cut they should flow even better

This is great info I'm getting ready to start the tuning process and im going to give this a try
Terry are you adjusting the pod on the dizzy to 25degs at idle? And if I'm reading this correct your at about 20° locked and 30° total timing right now I was planning on starting at about 18° advanced so if i was going to adjust the pod I'd want to set it at around 28°?
Sorry for all the questions I'm just trying to understand better
Thanks Aaron
