Wow, I'm flattered to be quoted as an authority. However, I agree with Sam. Posts should be helpful and avoid sarcastic tone.

I see.
You guys are suggesting that the timing chain might not be my only problem.
I'll do a compression test before i tear into the timing cover again.

I did a compression test

1 = 140
2 = 130
3 = 150
4 = 130
5 = 140
6 = 155

What do you guys think?

To do the test I simply removed the spark plugs and threaded the compression tester in one cylinder at a time. about 5 cranks per cylinder.
The engine was cold and the choke was open.

Those look like decent reading with a cold engine. I always do mine with engine fully warmed up so there is adequate oil on the rings and the pistons are expanded to the optimum size. I crank until the gauge stops going, which is about 5 cranks as you say.

Yes, it's better to check the compression with the engine at operating temperature and the choke and throttle blocked open. But your readings look quite good. About the only extra info you could get with a hot/open-throttle test would be by watching and noting how many compressions it takes to reach the maximum values, and what proportion of the maximum is attained on the first and second compressions.

The camshaft timing has to be off only a little bit to make the engine run poorly (doggy, gutless, poor mileage). The camshaft has to be off quite a lot to cause a reduction in cylinder pressure discernible with a compression test.
