I pulled my engine and tranny out the top, together. I then did a rebuild on the engine, and also completely rebuilt the front suspension. When I put them back in, I mounted the engine and tranny into the K-member, raised the car and dropped it down on the whole assembly. It went very smoothly, and was almost a one-man job. If you're not re-doing the front end at the same time, it's a bit more work.

Post subject:  Workshop. Yes!

And that, my friend, is a workshop that few of us have, but all of us dream of.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Turned out to need more angle, a load leveler and.....an upside down motor mount.

Shes in and hooked up. However I have reason to suspect while doing my timing I rushed through it a bit and forgot to set the motor to TDC #1 before lining up the dots. I believe ill aquire a degree wheel as well.

Noticed some coolant coming out of either the head gasket below the 3rd bolt in (bottom) or its leaking through the stud hole as they were only threaded in hand tight...

Either way thanks for the help and hopefully she will live soon!

Haha it sure was.

Motor mount looked right... with the engine OUT of the car...
Unfortunately it took a whole day of  to see it was on wrong.

Thanks for all the help everyone!

Hey, don't feel bad. I did the same thing - very easy to do if you're not familiar with it. Luckily, I noticed it outside of the car. Glad you got it sorted out. :)

I also believe its much easier to do the motor and trans together, less chance of messing something up by not aligning them correctly
