The MP 'harness' kit only comes with the ecu plug? now is it me or doesn't that seem a bit odd that they call it a harness but only comes with one plug and some wire when you clearly need at least 3 plugs? (ecu, distributor, ballast). Ah well... doesn't matter any more luckily my bro keeps stockpiles of terminals around. |

yeah, the mp harness has the ecu and dist plugs moulded in. the ballast wire is spliced in to your original harness. i think new connectors and some shrinkwrap are included. really pretty easy. -james |

Even if they came with the whole thing it still wouldn;t be worth it for me as I would have to pay duty and taxes on it and shipping to canada as no one locally sells stuff from MP. So the harness would likely cost me nealry 60-70 bucks cdn where as I can get everything I need for 10 bucks from the wreckers, as long as they have it that is. |

There is no need to disturb the ballast resistor wiring to install the electronic igntion. You do need to splice into switched 12v somewhere to get power to the ECU. -james I would not bother with the addtional wiring of the first generation system that used the dual ballast. All aftermarket ECU's only have the four pins and the addtional resistor in the dual ballast is not used. If you are junk yard scrounging for parts and you come across a 5 pin system just move to a latter model car with the four pin system. |

Ok maybe we should close this thread and keep everythihng on the other thread. Please reply ther instead, thanks this is getting confusing jumping back and forth. Ok I have determined that I'll be keeping the original ballast resistor. The ECU I bought(new one). Its a five pin one. Can I still use it and just not use the fifth pin? Is there any switched 12v under the hood, or do I have pull it in from the interior of the car? Do you have a diagram dgc or could you give me a breakdow of exactly what parts I need to get and what hooks up to what eg ECU pin 1 goes to .... ECU pin 2 goes to .... ECU pin 3 goes to .... ECU pin 4 goes to .... ECU pin 5 goes to .... |
