Is your distributor in a truck? I am curious about the low number on the arm and that it is a fixed/non adjustable can.
No, this is in my '67 Barracuda. I'm pretty sure it's the original distributor, but not sure about the can. I don't know if the VC93 is adjustable - I'm assuming it's not.

Is your 67 a 4 speed?

Since you have the distributor apart what is stamped on the governor? 9R?

The 6.5 can will only give you about 12 to 14 degrees of vacuum advance. Which isn't a lot.

I don't mean to be a pest, but wow...this looks like a lot of effort to keep the original 1967 points-type distributor.

Drilling a hole in the (hardened!) point plate will be not impossible, but difficult, especially to get it in the right place.

Is there some reason the win/win/win/win HEI upgrade isn't being considered…? Not only would you get your vacuum advance adjustability, but vastly better ignition and all the good things that spring from it (better starting, idling, driveability, performance, fuel economy).

Ted, it's an automatic. I don't have the numbers right now, but I can check at home.

Dan, you're not being a pest. I respect your knowledge and opinions. Sometimes I tend to get tunnel vision. My immediate focus now is to get my car back on the road, and I wasn't looking at the big picture. I'd read about the HEI conversion, and thought it sounded like a good idea, but just hadn't gotten around to it yet. But I guess there's no time like the present, right? I will start gathering the parts I need to do it. Thanks for the push in the right direction.

Roger
