Got the NOS water pump today. The original box says "Valiant 1960". How nice I got lucky here. Went to pick it up. Holy CRAP! This cast iron water pump is frickin' HEAVY!!! I usually believe in "weight = quality". A pretty rough and crude measure, to be sure, and it's definitely not always the case in automotive, but it's sure easier to see how manufacturing practices have changed if you take this and hold it side by side to the new aluminum OEM pump that Airtex now makes. No comparison. Wonder how long this NOS pump will last. Planning on using the waterless coolant in this thing, so hopefully corrosion will not be a factor like using standard water/ethylene glycol mix.
