Quote: other companies who build poly mounts can build a quality product at much cheaper price
Is that right? I don't think it is. Let's take a look. From Schumacher: • A poly '62-'72 or '73-up trans mount is $81 + ship & handle • A pair of poly mounts (various styles, but each involving some poly and some bent heavy-gauge steel and some hardware) is $144 to $279 + ship and handle From Imperial Services: • A poly '62-'72 A-body trans mount is $79 + ship and handle. Other poly trans mounts are $69 to $89 + ship and handle. From PolyBushings • A pair of poly '62-'66 A-body slant-6 engine mounts is $119 + ship and handle. • A pair of poly '67-'72 A-body + '69-'93 Dodge truck engine mounts is $137 + ship and handle. • A pair of poly spool inserts for '73-up slant-6 mounts is $68 + ship and handle. So not only does Polybushings supply stuff nobody else does, but their stuff is priced substantially lower than comparable products for higher-volume applications from other companies. Not only that, but if we plug $119 in 2010 dollars into the inflation calculator we see that this pair of motor mounts would have cost $17.41 in 1965 dollars, which is in the close neighborhood of what genuine factory Chrysler replacement mounts cost in 1965. Sir, I believe you done been pwned. Nevertheless, if you are so sure you can make mounts of equal quality for less, then do it. Until then, you are griping about nothing and in the process you are jeopardizing future availability of parts for our extremely small market. Stop it now, please and thank you (and you're welcome). |

All you listed is a body stuff, I told you I've only been dealing with vws. I can get a complete set of motor mounts, trans mounts, and then even a non factory high performance added "mid mount " for under 50 bucks all urethane and that's all quality, don't have to worry about it again kinda stuff. Like I said, I was comparing other cars I delt with. Hell my Chevy trans mount was 35 bucks and was a bitchen interlocking urethane mount. If you re read, I Posted about supply and demand, and to me it seems its not in the favor of the a body. |

"Supply & Demand" is not "in favor" of Mopars in general... No argument here, we are working on stuff with a limited market and very little supplier support. DD |

Sorry I ment to say under 100, I believe its about 80 bucks. Don't know where the 50 came from. And that's 5 mounts total. And the shift rod and coupler bushings... 6 bucks, urethane. There's more bugs out there then an a body. So they build more parts in a single run then they would for a smaller market. Same with chevys, lots of it is cheap cause more demand, and more supply. |

Thank you for clarifying that doc. I'm new into the mopar scene and had never realized how small it was compared to a lot of other things. All the old geezers I kick $#!+ with are only into both mopar and vw.

go to grainger, get some flexane 94 for about $40 and you can do all 3 mounts, burn the rubber out, make a way to hold them in place along with the insert mix and pour rubber wait 3 days to cure and enjoy, of course i was trying a what if and they still are working like champs, keep in mind these are those 76+ spool mounts and i had to shim ( big washers) them to keep them aligned because the poly only extended to the edge of the mount, not past it, but they work very well, i feel every twitch the engine makes, and zeo movement -Mike[/img] |
