You might be able to just cut the swaging on all the studs, and remove the drum from the spindle, but not a good idea. It would be best to replace all the studs when doing this job. |

My front drums don't arrive until tomorrow and I haven't even ordered my studs yet. assuming they are too loose, is there any harm in tack welding the head to the back of the hub flange, and tack welding the studs to the face of the drums after pressing, then having the whole thing turned on a lathe? Expounding upon the same idea, can a automotive machine shop balance the drum by welding on counterweights? I have no intention of running 9" drums long enough to need to change shoes, let alone drums, so the permanence is not a factor. |
