did the swap and with #2 in #1 hole, got .020. so crank is ok. i don't have any micrometers, so using a dial caliper i measured the two pistons that are out of the block, bottom of skirt to top of piston, and top of pin bore to top of piston, and i am convinced the piston is ok. so i believe i need a replacement rod, which will hopefully measure .010 - .013 longer. then all piston heights would be within .003. i will remove the remaining pistons, mark the head as described and match the chambers to the bore. good stuff. thanks, andy. |

My guess... it's a slightly bent con rod. Likely out of an engine / cylinder that got water in a bore, and was started. ("Hydrauliced") DD |

Doc, if you may remember, the single rod you sent me a while back had a mismatched cap. i went through all mine and found the best fitting cap i had, the machine shop remachined it. the bearing to journal clearance was good, but maybe the machining was off. maybe bent, but either way i would consider it not usable. when i get another rod i will measure carefully before installing the piston. have a great day, andy. |

Yes... aggresive resizing of the "big end" can change the rod's C to C... but .010 is a lot. DD |

Oh, I thought those were new K1 rods. This is easier to stomach... knowing that these are used & reconditioned factory rods Lou |
