Yes. There are different wraps available, and various hi-temp coatings meant to be used with them. Mine are coated with one such silicone high temp coating. It rejects water and the wrap becomes much more resistant to damage.

The wrap requires the coating to function properly, and is detailed in the kit instructions.

This doesn't keep condensation from occuring on the metal surface when cold, so it's very important to get the exhaust system fully up to temperature to reject the water completely. that way it doesn't linger and rust the surface. This is as important for the inside of the exhaust system as the outside surfaces.
