Thanks Dan. When I get home I'll track down the number on the block.I think I should drop the oil pan and have a look-see. Maybe pull the head too but what do you guys think? I feel fortunate the engine is mounted on a stand complete with radiator which makes working on it a whole lot easier. |

Dropping the oil pan and maybe pulling the head to see what's gone on inside it |

I would recommend rebuilding the 1960 engine, which has been sitting for decades and was in unknown-used condition when pulled. |

This might be over already. Where the starter bolts on there is a piece of the block that appears to have torched off. It's one of the mounting points for the bell housing ![]() |
