Ok... I think those are... probably far from perfect, but should work ok.

My experience with the carter bbd is that they don't flow enough fuel, and there was a different member on here that said the same.
Just saying...

Imo, the fuel system is what makes a turbo engine work, or break.

I really hope someone else will comment too...

Kentucky dude you have to do a bunch of studying and research. The need for an IC depends on many things. Static compression, amount of boost, cams etc. You are young. So are many of the builders on this board. This community can be a big asset. Carbs have to be modded to hand boost, many, many other things you need to learn. Books, online research, etc, etc.

Sounds like you need basic automotive knowledge.

Ive worked in a garage n pulled a few engines but never messed with any forced induction stuff so that's all new to me

Just a few words from a kid who has been down this road many times. Save your money and just drive the car. Unless your looking to spend $?000 of dollars don't do it at all. Everything is cheap the first time. But everytime you drive the car stuff breaks or needs upgraded. Enjoy your car stock or close to stock and it will last till your old enuf to spend money on it and build it once the way you want it built. Don't get discouraged by this just keep reading and learning and you will learn what I'm saying is truth. Good luck and have fun.

Well, it's not my driver, I got a '98 Mustang (don't hate, idl fords but I love Mustangs!) for my driver, my Scamp (all original) is sitting in the barn and I just traded a 360 for another SL6. It's not like I have or can afford to do anything with either one, I'm just ready to get something done on my Scamp and like I said, I spend too much time dreaming.. Anyone could ask my family or gf n they'd all say I'm constantly lookin for another car or upgrades to put on mine...

It would be better if you use a 2bbl carb rather than the 1bbl due to the fact of better flow...which is the whole point when your putting on a turbo! Not to mention the brass float in the 1bbl will crush under boost!A Holley 2300 is a common choice for turbo slants. There is a website called www.hanger18fabrication.com that tells how to modify a carb for blow thru....they show how to do a 4bbl but you can do it for the 2bbl and its just has half the stuff! :)

As far as boost levels go ... not more than 10 on a stock slant..safer at 8.

Do your homework ...don't get your hopes up for it being as cheap as you want.I'm starting my turbo build and already dumped $250+ on a intake, gonna get a pte 6262 turbo for $800,got to get a carb,blowoff valve, wastegate,carb hat,intake piping,trans kickdown for carb,and for tuning purposes a wideband air/fuel ratio gauge which runs about $250+. I'm currently working two jobs to pay bills and fund this project! :)

No way am I telling you not to do a turbo. Boost is an amazing thing but I will tell you it is not cheap or easy. You need to do as much research as possible. What ever you think your budget will be double it and it still will be short. I have had dreams of a boosted slant for years now but yet to do it. I am 27 years old and have had my car since I was 16. Life gets in the way of things Married House Kids.

My advise is research and plan but make the car usable a driveable ahead of time. Boost causes things to break, make sure your axle, and tranny can handle the abuse. Is your brakes up to the task of stopping the new power.

First I would check and make sure all your systems are up to snuff. If you don't have disk brakes up front get them even if just stock, then ditch the exhaust and step up to 2" or 2.25" maybe Dutra Dual but the stock manifold is just fine, then find a Super six set up. Maybe pull the head and get it milled to bump the compression some. Get your self a Wide band O2 sensor. Once you have those you can start to play around with tuning. Learn your Carb inside and out how it works and why. What it does at different stages in the drive. Recurve your distributor and learn what the timing does and how your fuel and timing interacts with each other. All these you can do alittle at a time while driving the car and enjoying it. Those are all steps that will help you when you are ready to pull the trigger on the Tubo project.

Once you know your car is solid and what it takes to tune then you can gather the parts and build that turbo system. I will also say read up and learn about Alcohol/Methanol injection it is a great tool when you have a boosted motor. I wish you the best of luck and don't stop dreaming and don't give up. You will enjoy the car much more if you take it a little at a time and work thru the problems as they come up. Listen and learn from others mistakes on here. This is the best place to be for great and honest advice with out getting beat up and cut down unlike other message boards.

Thanks a lot mike!! You just made me realize what all is involved in this! I've been reading lots of forums on here and on FABO since I got my Scamp when I was 16. I must say ever tho I'm still a young kid compared to most on here and just started posting things this spring I've felt very welcomed and I've gotten a lot of help from all you guys! Thank you all!! Like I said earlier, I'm hopin to get married within a yr/yr n a half so I've gotta start gettin my priorities straight but my gf promised I'll get my car done cause she hates havin junk sit around! :lol: so it might be awhile b4 I get around to it but I was really just wanting to see what could be done n how to do it. Thanks guys!! :D

Yea, I posted a hyper Pak question in the engine section here instead of on FABO for the simple fact that this site is ONLY /6s.. I love FABO but it's a lot more "pull the slant n put in a small block" advice over there

100x on Toad's recomendation of Corky bells book, maximum boost. Another good one is Alexander grahm bells's book Forced induction tuning. Up to 8 psi boost works well on S/6s and doesn't need an intercooler. Read up on the subject,and I think $1000-1500 is a more realistic figure, because you need a $250-300 AFR gauge to tune it properly.
