Correct procedure for an engine-cold start: Press accelerator all the way to the floor, then release and take your foot off. Turn the key. Let go of the key when the engine starts.
Hey Daniel,
Thanks for instructions. Will give this a try.

If it has been a long time (more than a couple weeks) since the last start up, press the accelerator to the floor twice then take your foot away and crank.
Lorrie generally goes for three to four days between start ups, so this procedure will probably be more effective.

If the engine does not start up and run with this procedure, the choke is not operating correctly
Lorrie's Choke is activated by the Bi-Metal Spring in the Exhaust Manifold, and works GREAT, though it may be open a bit too much (though it is just a tad away from being completely closed). Am going to have to broach the subject of the optimum setting for the Choke soon.

that and/or you've got fuel supply problems (fuel drain-down through leaky fuel pump valves,
The Fuel Pump is practically brand new.

fuel boil-off out of carburetor).
Am inclined to think that THIS is the most likely situation with both Lorrie AND Ms. American, and it is not so much "boil-off" as it would be that since it has been just egregiously hot here this Summer, that it is likely that the Fuel is just evaporating during the time between start-ups.

Will give the procedure delineated above a shot later this morning. Am going to be going to the Tire Shop to see WHEN they expect Lorrie's two NEW Front Axle Tires to be in.

Lorrie and I are eagerly awaiting their arrival so that not only will Lorrie be going around with NEW Tires all around, but she will also have have a PROPER Spare.

Anyway, thanks VERY much for the always sage advice. Hope you have a GREAT week.

Hey All,
Monday Afternoon Update:

Had a call from the Tire Shop this afternoon.

Lorrie's NEW Front Tires had come in!

They weren't supposed to be here till Tuesday or Wednesday, but they arrived this afternoon.

Got all ready, went out and started Lorrie up, and off we went to the Tire Shop.

They took the Front Tires&Wheels off of the Front Axle, and then took the Tires off of the Wheels, and installed the NEW Tires on the Wheels, and put them on the Front Axle.

We then decided which of the OLD Tires should go on the NEWLY Cleaned&Painted Stock Dodge Wheel, mounted it, and put it in Lorrie's Cargo Bay.

Then off Lorrie and I went: To the Post Office; the Conoco for a LOTTO Ticket; the Pharmacy for this month's meds; and to the Grocery Store for food this week's food.

Lorrie is running the best she has ever run since coming to live with me, and for the third time in the thirty-seven years that Lorrie has lived with me, she has the same Brand&Model of NEW tires on all four corners.

She drives REALLY SMOOTH & Quiet! :)

Have just two more things to do:

1. Install the Bracket to which the Spare Tire is fastened.

2. Install a Baffle so that the HOT AIR from the Engine Cabinet doesn't get up into the Dash Panel.

Anyway, it's HOT here again today.

Will keep you all updated on events as they happen.
