From my go-to guy for decode stumpers: "Probably it was built in a plant that built cars that got opera lamps and given that what is entered on the tag is at the discretion of the machine operator, his brain could have been shifting between two car lines at the moment he entered L37 on that Duster's tag." |

I believe we have a probable solution to the "L37" and "A3" mysteries: • Codes that look like "A3" (might be "A1", "M2", etc.) often appear on St. Louis tags just before "END". It might be a line or shift indication. It does not have meaning with respect to the car's equipment. • "L37" is probably supposed to be "L73", which in 1975 was the Fuel Pacer system. This consists of a vacuum switch and wiring running to the right fender-top turn signal repeater. If you were driving uneconomically, stomping on the gas pedal, manifold vacuum would drop, trigger the switch, and the RH repeater would light up to remind you not to drive so "fuellishly". This system was available on the A-bodies in '75, and this particular '75 is equipped with the repeaters, so that's probably what that is and either the line worker creating the tag punched "L37" instead of "L73" or it was a reading/transcription error for this thread. |

Hmm, my cousin had that option on his 1975 Plymouth Fury (the smaller Fury, not the Gran Fury style), and it was the LEFT side fender mounted turn signal that illuminated under strong acceleration. -Mac |

Yes -- it is in the factory service manual, which you should definitely get.
