I'm really looking forward to this series!

The air should be spectacular!

I'm getting the Hooptie out for the first run of the season tomorrow at Woodburn!

I hope to make several of the events at Bremerton this year. If the open trailer works out, I may go back to tent camping until the dragster is ready to go. I have dibs on the "dog poop free" portion of Kevin and Deb's yard!

Make sure to talk to all your slant six and inliner friends. If we can get this going, we'll be able to justify a slant six points race at the Bremerton track!

:D

hahaha I have an entire yard of clean grass (16 miles from the track) if you need a backup plan.

About two weeks to the event! :D

1. Desteb
2. Kesteb
3. Zorg
4. Walt
5. Jerry
6. Ceej
7. Dave
8. Doug
9.

Walt tells me there is another HAMB dragster from the Portland area coming up. He mentioned four cars from the Seattle area he expects to be there as well.
Talked to Dave this evening. He's running the gold car out to the track this weekend for a shakedown. If it runs, he'll be there! The new engine for the wagon is going together, so we may see the new, faster wagon soon!

We have a bunch of slant six board members within spittin' distance of the track. We'd love to see lots of you at the race!

How about it Reed? You need to take a weekend off, you work-a-haulic!

Yeah! What's up with that?

He might pipe up yet. You going to make the inaugural up at Bremerton Richard? Give you an excuse to drive that gas sipper Dart of yours!

Deb and I won't make this race. Fathers day stuff. Apparently going to Bremerton and running down the track is not a scheduled activity.

Well, happy Fathers day! I'll be up there. Can't make the July date due to work. Hopefully you'll be able to make it in July!

So I've never done this racing thing before, and I can't find any info on Bremerton's website. Does anyone have any details on the race (like when am I supposed to be there, how much $ do I need to have to register, pit space info, etc?).

Also, any tips or basic things a new guy needs to know? Any certain specs required as far as a helmet goes? I know I need a catch can on my radiator, and that I can only have a certain length of rubber fuel line, but other than that what else do I need to know to get my car through tech?

Thanks in advance fellows. I'm looking forward to Saturday.

If you are using your '76 dart as the drag vehicle:

You are not fast enough to need a helmet.

Catch can will be required at the radiator (if you have the stock over flow you are good to go).

Keep your length of fuel hose between hard lines to less than 12"...(If this were Woodburn they wouldn't even bat an eye at it since you'll be pretty slow compared to the V-8 field).

Be there when the gates open or a little earlier (7-8am) and you will need to get your tech card, number and they usually will "stage" an hour or so after the gates open 9am-ish).

If you have a tachometer installed it should have a bracket or a light to set. Determine your "comfort level" of launching your car and set the red line there (being you are driving it regularly and it's a wide ratio tranny with highway gearing set it at 3000 rpm, you won't have spectacular times but you'll drive home OK - shift at 3000rpm until you are in 3rd and leave it there until you are past the finish line). Also during time trials since you aren't doing a test n' tune to see what the car will do, you will need to figure out what yellow light to leave on...you probably will be going when the last yellow lights to cut a good reaction time.

The 'veterans' should be able to help you through staging the car and how to avoid the waterbox since you have street tires.

-Good Luck

You've got most of it handled. You won't need a helmet unless you go into the 13's. That's mighty quick, so your unlikely to need to worry about that.

Is your battery in the stock location? Make sure it has a battery hold down clamp. Bungee chords don't cut it!
As long as it's in the stock location, and has a proper clamp, you should be good to go.

If you have fluids leaking, they won't let you run. As long as it isn't severe, there is little to worry about.

Have serviceable seat belts in the vehicle.
Remove hub caps. They rarely worry about it at our speeds, but they might.
You may not be allowed to run if your windshield has damage. The odd rock chip won't be a problem, but if you have a big gnarly crack running across it, they may not allow you through tech.

Tires should be in good shape. If they aren't going to pass at a traffic stop, they won't be allowed down the strip.

Cars: Remove everything from the trunk. If at all possible, take everything out of the car. Books on the back seat, spare engine blocks, whatever you have back there. They don't like a bunch of stuff being strewn across the strip.

Don't have a G-Tech or anything like that installed. Not legal in competition.

Generally, if the vehicle is legal for driving on the street, your legal at the track. Right up until you start going really fast, then you need roll bars, cages, fire suppression and such.

If you have Nitrous or boost, the rules get much more involved, so don't do that until you have a chance to go over the rules specific to those power adders.

You must also have all wheel studs with nuts.
