Just curious. I know there are a few programable guys out there, just not much discussion here on the specifics..

We are few and far between. I have not met anyone at the track in the last year or so running this type of system. I know Ron Hamby runs electromotives ignition system and seems to be very happy with it.
Most EFI guys you see are using something like the HyperTech controller to modify the stock EFI system. These let you control certain features like timing and things but are not very involved.

MoTec is the big one but the $$$$ is high. It has quite a few features that most systems do not have. Electromotive is a good $$ with good features as well as a really good ignition system. Look into them if you ever want to try EFI. I ahve been very happy.

Is this a known thing, where say address X does this if this is its value? If that is the case then customizing a howell kit will be trivial if you can program proms. Granted you can't do it on the fly but still is better then nothing....

Any tbi kits out there that do come with a customizable computer?

Coincidentally I don't have a laptop but i do have several spare pc's and monitors, I was just gonna throw one in my front seat with an inverter to power them up to tweak the efi computer if necessary ;)

Hmm looks to be a bigger hassle then I thought.. And I'm not sure how howell alters their roms so digging into one of those might be different. Seems that many of the jeep owners are satisfied with the howell calibrations though. I'll give them a holler and express these concerns to them and see what they say. Tom - thanks for the heads up. I was just about to order my howell kit untill I had read your post.

Just thought I let you know - the guys at howell have told me they did several 225's before and have a variety of programs for it that have worked for others in the past. He said if any problems just give him a call and he can adjust as necessary and give me another chip. I orderd the kit, should be here next week sometime. Cross your fingers for me hopefully this install wont be too hassleful ;)

Glad to see someone else diving into the EFI pool. I will be installing my MegaSquirt system (homebuilt computer w/ laptop programmability) in the next couple of weeks onto my '64 Dart - running my old Holley TBI at first. Check this out too if you feel like it:

How did youput the megasquirt together? Did you have the pcb's made or did you assemble them on some generic ones? This might be a possibility whenever I get tired of the gm computer and want something more custom.

They sell PCBs and PROMs as a partial kit, then you buy the rest from an elec parts house and assemble it yourself. Look at their website and they have detailed directions.

If you can solder well and follow directions, you can do it.
