The j pipe is just a pipe with a bend in it that goes from exhaust mani to turbo, correct? Some kid at school is trying to tell me different.

These are not "off-the-shelf" parts, at least for our cars. Take your car to a muffler/exhaust shop, tell 'em what you want, and they can probably bend and weld one up for you in 15-20 minutes. They're going to need to know exactly where you want to mount the turbo. Have you already moved your battery to the rear of the car?

If you can't weld, you're going to need a relationship with an exhaust shop anyway to plumb your hot side exhaust. Might as well find a good shop now.

It sounds like you might be in a little over your head. I'd recommend a lot more research before you proceed. There's a lot of good info here, and guys willing to share.

Talk to Ed Thomson (moparkid305) on fabo; he may have some information on sourcing j-pipes for you. The only "trick," is hgetting the right flanges, cutting the pipe the right angle and length, and getting them welded on securely. Actuallly GETTING the J-Pipe is the easy part...

It ain't rocket science...

My first setup I cut the Manifold and installed a flange on the end yes you need a skilled welder the cast iron manifold needs to be heated up before you can weld on it I didn't run it much before I decided to build my turbo header there was a nice simple setup on ebay a couple months ago the used a stock exhaust manifold and used some black pipe plumbing els and just welded them up and it was close to a j pipe hell that setup couldn't of cost more then 100 bucks

There's a lot of good info here, and guys willing to share. the battery is in the trunk already has been for quite a while. i know how to weld and have a welder. ive read every writeup on this site as far as turbcharging goes some of them more than a few times. i was just wondering if anyone had found a bent piece of pipe that worked for them that wasnt custom. something that might have come with a part number. i have an exhaust system sitting in my back yard that i can cut up, looks like the hump that goes over the rear may have the bend im looking for. just trying to find what others have done. no one really specifies where they sourced their pipes

I bought the build your header pipes for a v8 hotrod kit from summit for $80 bucks came with more than enough pipe and bends even for mistakes. Kev

That's CHEAP for a set of headers for a turbo slant six.... Ours were a little over a thousand dollars, with welding, plating, and the gasoline to haul them around to all that...

thank you for all the replies. i have sourced a couple on various sites but ebay seems to be the cheapest by alot. i have to take my headers off and put my stock manifold back on and measure to see exactly what i need but im pretty sure i can find it on ebay whatever it may be. im taking my car to a show on Nov 2nd, after that im going to start mocking everything up and see how it goes. ill start a new thread with my build and ill be sure to take as many pictures as i can.
