Ceej & All here is the rule updates that Lou posted after the banquet.
Quote:
RULE CHANGE DISCUSSION AND VOTES:

1) Rainouts: All voted to allow open rescheduling on rainout races during the season. This deletes our previous rule about the delay needed for rainout reschedule and that the rescheduled race must be at the same track. It was decided that this can only limit attendance, which is what we are trying to encourage now. After 5 race days of rainout in 2012, we cannot imagine this level of rainouts happening again, but this rule opens things up. Rainouts must be rescheduled during the calendar year of the rainout.

2) Crosstalk: After another incident this year with crosstalk on, we decided to formalize a rule about how to handle this. First, the race coordinator must ask the track personnel to turn off crosstalk for our race. Second, if the faster car loses due to crosstalk being on due to the track failing to turn crosstalk off, the affected pairings participate in a mandatory re-run. Both racers are allowed to change their dial-ins on the re-run.

3) Attendance points: After extended discussion with comments from the Slantsix.org board taken into account, there was a unanimous vote to award 5 points per racer per race (a race is defined as one set of eliminations). We feel this will encourage attendance, and is more in line with what NHRA does to encourage attendance at its amateur race events.

4) Attendance points on rainout: Attendance points are awarded for rained out events if your car is in line to enter the grounds of the race track for the scheduled rained out race, or you put your wheels on the track property on the day of the race. This was a unanimous vote except for one person in disagreement. You will not get points if you are in town or on the way, etc... You must be at the track to collect points.

In the East, we have also started yearly recommended donations from racers to the racing group. $20 per racer per year. At the first race that someone attends, they are encouraged to give the race coordinator $20, which will go to our treasurer Alanna Hargis to handle expenses, prize money, and awards for the Eastern racers group.

Best,

Lou

So, it looks to me, that the rain out racers get 1 point each for the rained out race. Then ALL racers who attend the make up race/make the ladder, get entry points. Also ANYONE can enter the make up race? If I read it right??

I believe the single point was an attendance point, and attendance points have been increased for this season to 5. So those who were at the race track when the race was cancelled would get 5 points.

I'm reading that the race can be rescheduled, but not that it is "Open" to any racers. If we want it to be open to racers that were not present at the Rainout event, it needs to clearly state that the makeup is open to all comers.
If it is only open to those that attended the rainout event, it needs to say that too.
Where it would make sense to open it to anyone, would be if the race was called prior to the date of the race. Then make it an open event.
It gets cancelled on Saturday for a Sunday event, open. Called Prior to Saturday, the entire weekend becomes an open two day race event. On the road, at the track, or sitting in front of the television 500 miles away. Open.
Attendance points should apply only to the weekend. Five points for attending both, or either.
Not ten points for the weekend, or fifteen for a makeup on Friday coupled with two races on Saturday and Sunday.
While some folks come for only one day, they are not the majority. Most have compelling reasons not to attend both days, or a three day weekend at the track. An event may have multiple points races, but the attendance should be somewhat divorced from this. Most of the time, when we have one racer head home Saturday night or Sunday morning, somebody comes barreling in with a big grin to take their place. Not always, but come on. With these huge attendance point increases, we ought to bump the once a year per racer record points up to 20. That would encourage serious racers to bump it up a notch! (At least once a year!) Something to think about for next year. Plenty of "Open" records out there! You may not win the race, but your going to get a big shot in the arm if you can blow away a record on that trip where your car is all over the place, and you can't cut a light to save your life!
