Neat, didn't know the truck steering was that much different.

I got my tires at Firestone. My car's going back there tomorrow for the alignment, we shall see how it turns out.

Firestone. Humph.

I've got a buddy that has a Firestone franchise. He's done his best to treat me right. But, my daily driver is a used Crossfire and the TPS light was on when I got it. I finally took it to him and, although he replaced all sending units, the light remained on. My finances and tire are tight so it was a couple years later after moving to another town that I took it to a good Chrysler dealer who said "wrong TPS sending units". Over to the local Firestone I go, onto their computer they go, ultimately saying "Firestone did not install those TPS units". I gave them my guy's telephone number and they called. Then they say "He is only a franchise, Firestone does not stand behind franchise holder work".

Firestone. Humph.

Shoot. I guess I'm still mad.

While doing diagonistics on the Crossfire TPS issue, the local (Indianapolis, Washington Street) Firestone said "We can't find the spare tire. That's why the TPS light is staying on". I said "There isn't one" They said "some Crossfires had spares, we called the (nearby) dealership and talked to (named) mechanic". I said "No they didn't" and beat feet over to the (exceedingly good) Chrysler dealership they claimed to have called. A quick check with the (named) mechanic resulted in a "Nah, I never talked to anybody at Firestone about a crossfire".

They Lied.

I take all my cars to an alignment only shop. One time a tire dealer messed with my alignment on my daily. After 5000 miles I noticed my new tires starting to show bad wear. When I went back he said I told you that your car needed an alignment. When I showed him a copy of my most recent alignment , He balked. I then went back to my alignment guy. He confirmed that they changed my tow in. With a new print out I went back and gave the guy the option of giving me my money back of being sued in small claims court. I also recommended that he search Craigs list in their rants and raves section for his store. He refunded my money and I drove away with my free tires. Now I use a mean streak pen to mark my adjusting hardware. Now after I have my tires changed, I inspect my paint marks.
I hate dishonest mechanics.

Man oh man... its becoming nearly impossible to trust anyone but myself touching my car.
I hate Taking myy car to the Local Guy for State Mnadated inpections... I feel the same way..

Now I have started to do my own alignments as well.

Fourtnatley I do have a good local shop who can align Stuff correctly and Will treat you like an educated mammal when your stuffs broke.. and not just fudge it... But it's nice to know with a few clamps, a wrench or 2, a bubble gage and 2 tape measures I can do a $69 alignment on my own.

Also I would never take my Stuff to a national chain Garage... Pep boys ntb, Firestone.. goodyear etc for major work for Just that reason..

Ask around and find a good local guy you can talk to and trust to help you with your stuff.
