The solenoids are about a 2 amp draw with 5 amp fuse(if memory serves).

So it wouldn't take long to drain the battery.

The streetrod industry used to have barking brakes that attached to the yoke on the axle. Check with speedway and other outlets.

Exactly. And my bet is that any piston sliding in a cylinder always has a small amount of leakage past the "rings" (or in this case seals)... they didn't design it to withstand a pressure application of more than a minute or two. If it can hold for longer, great, but the mfr doesn't expect it to. And you would be thinking of at least hours, maybe days? I kinda doubt any brake system would hold with no bleed off, though I've not tried it.

Just to give a point of reference, the classic test for leaking seals in a brake system is hold your foot on the pedal for a minute, see if it stays rock solid or slowly sinks toward the floor. That test doesn't mention hours or days, either. ;)

One of the reasons I went with a Ford 8.8 from an Explorer was to gain disc brakes in the rear with emergancy/ parking brakes. Right now I have them rigged up to the stock handle under the dash. But when I am done modding the trans tunnel for the T-5 I want to build a counsel with a E-brake handle into it, from a jeep cherokee I scrapped out a few years ago.
