If you had more than .001" pin clearance it's gonna be noisy. To measure stroke just put a bar across the bore,place the piston at TDC,set up the calipers at the middle of the piston and then adjust them to zero. Put the piston at BDC and you will have the actual stroke,no maths no room for errors,rocking etc.
