I can't find any changes to the speedo gear in my notes on this car, though I know I've changed that on some of our other project cars, and messed with it on this car years ago. I have to assume that it is the stock 29 tooth. This car is our daily driver in-city, so it has the 195-75R14's on it for cornering and parking. (Wife tends to turn the wheels with the car standing still, then begin her roll. Not good for tires and front end.) On trips we run 32 psi. I recall once using a tape measure to compare the circumference of a 195-75R14 vs 205-70-14's and found the measurement to be crudely within an inch of each other. Door post pressures are 28 psi given for bias-ply tires, but I run the radials slightly higher in town because I feel that is too soft. Torsion bar suspension is noticeably rougher than coil spring suspension, and I guess that the sales dept at Chrysler opted for softer (air) tires to mask the ride. Stock tires on this car were 185-14 minimum I think, 195's being more common. P

Did someone put V8 bars on your car?
What brand radials do you run?
I have found that a 26" tall tire rides much nicer than a 24.2 to 24.5" tall tire.
My wife likes the feel much better and being up higher!

I find the torsion bar front end to be very forgiving and a smooth ride. I had to install V8 bars, .893's and 1.125" sway bar and Edelbrock shocks on the front and I still run 33 pounds cold 36 hot of air in the front with P215 70R14's. I run the Toyo "Eclipse" for a nice smooth ride that has good control. It really makes a big difference when driving over rough pavement going over the mountain passes.

Ya know, I guess I get what I get. Tires are Les Schwab middle $$ range, because in town she wears out the sidewalls on curbs and the edges on city driving before actually wearing out the tread! For us, it's a waste of $$ to spend up on tires. No, they do not show under-inflation, it's just in-town driving that wears out the edges, even with regularly scheduled rotation. (Alignment OK, suspension has been overhauled).) My comment about the torsion bar springs riding slightly harsher is based on comparison to every other coil spring car I've driven. That doesn't make them bad, just different. I still like the Dart for trips. This is a stock 1975 Dart "Special Edition', which came with the sway bar "handling package". By the way, I think that accounts for some of the harshness/stiffness in the ride, though handling is slightly better than our stock Swinger. Maybe in June I can mess with it some more. Pat
