Serj22,

What are your current carb settings? Those running a holley 350 (me included) would have a good base line to start with. And what carb mods besides hangar18?
Holley 350:

Nitrophyl float
Jets: #70s (seems big but the power valve doesn't function normally)
Power Valve - Regular stock replacement (not boost referenced)
PVCRs cleaned out, not drilled out.
Choke tower cut off
Choke riser hole filled

And that's really it. That's what I started with. The AFR guage will tell you if you got it or not. You'll have to adjust from there, and you'll be able to use smaller jets if you get a boost referenced power valve. But so far this functions. It's not great on fuel - maybe 17-18mpg is all I'm getting right now, but eventually it will get there.

I am also using a QUick Fuel Technology fuel pressure regulator that utilizes holley jets to adjust pressure as well as the adjustment screw on top.

Baseline idle is 900RPM, 4psi fuel pressure, raised 1:1 on boost.

But Bill's right the gauge takes guessing out of the loop - (it also adds something to stress about). There was a point where the carb was running a 16afr at cruise. I took the float bowl off and cleaned out the block, and it was back to 13 as it should be. That thing is REALLY your best friend.

I'm close to 2500 miles on this setup. The other day I drove 100 miles going to the plastics store - finding a machinest for some Rolls Royce engine mounts - the like. It runs very well as a daily driver.

The thing I am having the most trouble with is electronics, and finiding ways to cut detonation or preignition. The fuel seemed to be real easy for me. I just took my time and did a lot of research and the fuel was good. The ignition/ plugs/ is another story. I know there's more in this slant at 8psi @3700rpm.

This is all on a stock slant. Stock internals. etc.

I just hit 100,600 miles the other day, and the head is freshly rebuilt - running premium fuel.

I may be the only person in the world who installed an A/F fuel ratio meter without knowing that lead will ruin the oxygen sensor,
I had no idea. I think it's common knowledge that leaded fuel will poison the catalytic converter but I never heard of it being a problem for the oxygen sensor. I'll be doing all my tuning with pump gas anyway since my project is not a race car. Still, it's good to know.

Racing fuel companies like VP make special unleaded blends of racing gas to be compatible with oxygen sensor equipped cars for that purpose. Lead kills the sensor pretty quickly otherwise.
