Third gear at 55 mph is 3500 RPM. Looks like that's the answer for steep hills at 6000+ feet along with flashers blinking . . . . Hopefully the cars or dirt trucks (the primary industry in New Mexico is dirt and rock refining, sorting and moving) that might rear-end me will keep their foot on the gas pedal - then I can shift in to 4th.
