What size battery would you recommend

What vehicle is this engine in? What electrical accessories does it have? How is it used? How much is weight a factor?

Personally, I always go for the battery with the highest amp hour and cold cranking amp ratings that will fit in the space I am using, but I drive vans on the street (not A bodies on the track) so my use requirements might be different from yours.

I bought the biggest battery Costco had that would fit my dart's battery tray:

1000 amps/850 cold cranking amps

Fitment code: 4

Group: 65

Item #: 12866

Yeah, make sure you have good connections for positive and negative. Also make sure of your ground strap at back of motor, is it there and has good connections at motor and firewall. Is the starter in good shape, if you plan on driving the car a lot you might want to get a mini starter it will spin your motor over faster than the old reduction starter.......if you look at the pictures below you can see the mini starter.....

Reed is right- buy the biggest battery that will fit on the shelf for a daily driver. That way when you leave the lights on for 3 hours it will still start. (Ask my wife 'bout that!) ps.: We are a '74-76 Dart family, but that car sure looks classy in your photos! :)

New battery same output. This morning I saw that the headers bolts were not on. Could this be why it's not starting? Exhaust mixing with my fuel/air mixture ?

Post subject:  manifolds not bolted on....

If the manifolds are loose, like not touching the head loose, more likely it's not getting fuel to the cylinders...if it does start with the manifolds not connected it's gonna be a rude awakening...

Post subject:  still....

That doesn't explain the slow cranking....
