Dan, why not sheet metal heat shield? It reflects some heat, and absorbs heat but also dissipates it quickly. Mine is Al. brian |

As far as sheet metal choices go, steel absorbs heat more slowly than Aluminum, but also dissipates it more slowly. Both provide a physical barrier to block radiating and convective heat from the engine/manifolds. I suppose a high temp polymer would be even better, like PEEK or something akin to that. PEEK melts at 662 degrees F. brian |

a 12" x 12" x 1/8" sheet of PEEK costs $285.00, while the same size sheet of aluminum costs $20, steel even less. |
